Hotel Pest Control in Dubai & Sharjah

MUMTAZ Integrated Services Group provides pest control for hotels, serviced apartments and hotel food and beverage operations in Dubai and Sharjah, and across the UAE, from offices in Sharjah, Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The company has operated since 2006 and holds pest control approval from the Sharjah, Dubai and Abu Dhabi municipalities. Work is scheduled back of house and outside service hours, and is quoted after a free inspection.

We specialise in pest control for hotels, serviced apartments and hotel F&B. A hotel is several buildings in one: guest floors, kitchens and banqueting, laundry, loading bays and refuse, landscaping and pools, and the back-of-house corridors that connect them. The programme covers each as its own area with its own devices, and the guest never sees the work.

The two things a hotel manager needs from a pest contractor are a bed bug protocol that holds up when a complaint comes in, and records that satisfy both a brand audit and a municipality inspection. Both are set out below.

Areas of a hotel and what each one needs

Each area is inspected and documented as its own zone.

  • Guest rooms and bed bugs

Room-by-room inspection of frames, headboards, seams and skirting; a reported room treated together with the rooms adjoining and connected to it, not alone; a follow-up timed to the hatch cycle; and a written record for the complaint file.

  • Housekeeping coordination

Rooms blocked in advance with the housekeeping manager, linen handling agreed before treatment, and a re-entry time confirmed before a room goes back to sale.

  • Kitchens and banqueting

Two scheduled visits a month, the same as every food premises we service: gel baiting and monitoring in the main kitchen, satellite kitchens and banqueting back-of-house, outside service, with the records the Dubai Food Code requires for any food premises.

  • Laundry

Warm, damp and lint-laden: cockroach and drain-fly harbourage behind machines and in floor drains, checked on every visit.

  • Loading bays and refuse

Where rodents and flies arrive. Numbered bait stations along the bay and the refuse room, with a proofing report on shutters, door seals and drain covers.

  • Landscaping and pools

Standing water, irrigation and planting are mosquito and rodent pressure. Breeding sites are mapped and treatment is scheduled to the season, with plant areas kept clear of food-contact zones.

How service works in a hotel

  1. 01

    Night-time and back of house

Public areas and kitchens are worked in the quietest window, usually overnight; guest floors are scheduled around occupancy with rooms blocked in advance.

  2. 02

    Guest-invisible

Technicians enter through the service entrance in uniform, devices are placed in back-of-house positions and numbered, and nothing is left in a guest-facing space.

  3. 03

    One contact, one plan

A single site plan covering every zone, one account contact, and a report format the general manager, the executive housekeeper and the executive chef all read.

  4. 04

    Documented for two audiences

The municipality inspection asks for the Food Code records; a brand or third-party audit asks for the device plan, trend data and corrective actions. The same visit report serves both.

Documentation for brand audits and municipality inspections

Hotel kitchens are food premises under the Dubai Food Code (section 4.4(e)), and brand standards audits follow the Codex General Principles of Food Hygiene (CXC 1-1969, section 11.2). The records below cover both.

  • A copy of the contract with the pest control agency

    Dubai Food Code 4.4(e)

  • The name of the pest control technician responsible

    Dubai Food Code 4.4(e)

  • The chemicals used, with the concentrations applied

    Dubai Food Code 4.4(e)

  • The procedures and methods used, and the frequency of application as recorded

    Dubai Food Code 4.4(e)

  • A plan of bait stations, insect light traps and monitors by zone, located so they cannot contaminate food

    Codex CXC 1-1969, 11.2

  • Monitoring reports the operator reviews, with corrective action where activity is found

    Codex CXC 1-1969, 11.2

  • Records of infestation, monitoring and eradication, with the cause identified

    Codex CXC 1-1969, 11.2

  • Bed bug incident records per room: inspection, treatment, follow-up and clearance

    Food Code and Codex

Sources: Dubai Municipality Food Code 2013, sections 4.3 and 4.4; Codex CXC 1-1969, revised 2020, section 11.2. Neither fixes a visit frequency; both require it to be recorded.

How hotel pest control is actually treated

We are not a spray-and-go company. Every treatment starts with a thorough inspection by a certified, experienced technician, and the treatment that follows is chosen for what the inspection found.

  • Targeted placement, not blanket spraying.

  • Our standing preference is the lowest effective chemical load, because these are homes with children and pets.

  • MOCCAE-approved products, placed where the pest actually is.

  • The structural and hygiene corrections that stop it returning, named in the report.

We do treat, properly, and with chemicals where the job needs them. Inspection decides what is used and where, not whether anything is used.

A technical service report after every visit, including an IPM assessment.

Teams operate across districts of Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi. In Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Ras Al Khaimah we serve clients under UAE-wide contracts rather than routine local work.

After the hotel pest control visit

  • We find the root cause, not just the visible activity.

  • Every treatment includes a scheduled follow-up.

  • If activity returns within the agreed follow-up period, we return at no extra charge.

  • We tell you plainly when the cause is structural, drainage or HVAC and needs the building’s action.

The follow-up period is agreed with you before the work starts and written on the quotation and on the service report, because it belongs to the pest and the building rather than to a standard number of days. We do not promise a building will stay free of pests; no contractor honestly can.

Questions owners ask

The reported room is inspected with the rooms adjoining it and connected to it, treated as a block rather than alone, and re-inspected on a follow-up timed to the hatch cycle rather than signed off after one visit. Housekeeping is briefed on linen handling, the rooms are blocked until re-entry is confirmed, and the file carries the inspection, treatment, follow-up and clearance for the guest correspondence.

Yes. Guest floors are scheduled around occupancy with rooms blocked in advance, kitchens and public areas are worked in the quietest window, technicians use the service entrance, and devices sit in back-of-house positions. Nothing is placed where a guest sees it.

A device plan by zone, the monitoring reports with trend data, corrective-action records where activity was found, product names and concentrations, and the technician responsible. Those are the Codex General Principles items that brand audits follow, and the visit report is written to them.

The whole property as zones: guest floors, kitchens and banqueting, laundry, loading bays and refuse, landscaping and pools, and back of house. Each zone has its own devices on the site plan and its own line in the report, and a hotel can start with one zone and add the rest.

Yes. Serviced apartments are treated like guest floors with a longer occupancy, and staff accommodation is planned block by block around shifts with a housekeeping regime alongside the treatment, because high occupancy defeats treatment on its own.

Hotel kitchens are food premises, and MUMTAZ services every food premises with two scheduled visits per month, each covering inspection, monitoring, treatment where needed and the records; in Abu Dhabi that is also what ADAFSA Code of Practice No. 29 of 2019 requires of an approved company. Guest floors, loading bays and grounds are separate zones with their own intervals, set at the inspection and written into the contract.
