The technician inspects before anything is applied: the kitchen and its voids, under and behind appliances, the bathrooms and their service ducts, wardrobes on external walls, the balcony, and wherever you have seen activity. The point is to find where the population lives rather than where you noticed it, because those are usually different rooms.

What is applied then follows from what was found. Gel bait into voids for cockroaches, a targeted residual on routes and entry points, treatment around external doors and drains where the pressure is coming from outside. Not a blanket spray through the house, which puts product where nothing lives and none where it does.

In a building, kitchens and bathrooms stack vertically around shared risers, and the riser is a motorway. Treating one apartment while the population sits in the service shaft next door works for a few weeks and then does not, which is why recurring problems in flats are so often reported as a failed treatment when they are really a scoping problem.

So for a flat we will ask what the neighbours are seeing, and for a building we would rather scope the risers, the bin rooms and the affected units together than take a run of single call-outs. It genuinely changes both product selection and timing, and it is far easier to plan around than to work around once a technician is on site. Fish and birds in particular need the room and the air handling considered before anything is applied.

You are told the re-entry period before the team leaves, and the products are municipality-approved and applied at label dilution. Data sheets are available on request. The standing preference is the lowest effective chemical load placed where the pest actually is, which is a better answer for a home than a larger volume applied more widely.

Most of the home-side work is water and food. A dripping trap under a sink or a leaking mixer will sustain a cockroach population through a treatment; crumbs behind the oven matter more than crumbs on the worktop; delivery cardboard kept in a store room is both harbourage and transport. Fixing those is worth more than a second visit.

What needs a technician is the diagnosis, the placement and the products. And where the cause is structural, drainage or HVAC rather than housekeeping, the report says that plainly, including when it means there is no further pest work to do on the job and what you need is a plumber.
