Check a pest control licence in Sharjah

Written by Sahar Said, Director of Operations, reviewed .

Anyone applying pesticide in a Sharjah property should be approved by Sharjah Municipality for pest control. The register is public, so you can check a company yourself in about a minute, and this note explains how to read what you find.

What approval means here

Sharjah Municipality maintains a list of the pest control companies it has approved to operate in the emirate. Approval is about the company: that it holds the right trade licence, that it is accountable to the municipality for what it applies, and that there is somewhere to complain if it goes wrong. It is not a rating of how good the work is, and it is not a review score.

The register also records what each company is cleared to carry out. General pest control and termite work are recorded separately, so a company approved for one is not automatically approved for the other. If the job is termites, that is the line worth checking rather than the headline approval.

How to check, step by step

  1. 1Open the registerSharjah Municipality publishes the pest control list at https://shjmun.gov.ae/associated-companies?list=pest-control. It is a public page and needs no login.
  2. 2Search the trading name, not the brandCompanies are listed under the name on the trade licence, which is often not the name on the van or the website. Ask the company what name it is registered under before you search, and treat an evasive answer as information.
  3. 3Read the categoryEach company is graded A, B or C, and A is the highest of the three. When last checked on 2026-09-11 the register held 93 companies: 30 in category A, 31 in B and 32 in C.
  4. 4Check what they are cleared forGeneral pest control and termite clearance are recorded as separate entries. Match the entry to the work you are actually buying.
  5. 5Check the areaThe listing shows the registered area. It tells you where the company is based rather than where it may work, so it is context rather than a restriction.

How to read what you find

The category is a municipality classification of the company, not a customer rating. The public listing draws category A as three glyphs, which is easy to mistake for a star rating; it is not one, and nobody should present it as one. A company in category B or C is still approved, and the sensible question is what the category reflects for the work you need rather than treating anything below A as disqualifying.

A company that does not appear at all is the finding that matters. It may be trading legitimately in another emirate, or under a name you were not given, but until it appears on this list it is not approved to apply pesticide in Sharjah, whatever is printed on the van.

What a legitimate company can show you

None of this is unreasonable to ask for before work starts, and a company set up properly will have all of it to hand. If asking causes friction, that is itself the answer.

  • A trade licence, current and in the name the company is trading under
  • The municipality pest control approval for the emirate the work is in
  • Evidence that the technician attending has been trained for the work, and who supervises them
  • An attested contract where the job or the premises requires one, typically commercial and food premises
  • A written service report after the visit, naming what was applied, where, and at what dilution
  • Product labels or data sheets on request, which is what lets you check a re-entry period

Warning signs

These are patterns, not proof. Any one of them can have an innocent explanation; several together usually do not.

  • No written quotation, or a price agreed only by phone with nothing to sign
  • No paperwork offered after the visit, or a receipt with no description of what was done
  • Reluctance to name the product used, or an answer that stops at "it is safe"
  • A guarantee that the property will stay free of pests, which no contractor can honestly give
  • Cash only, no company name on the receipt, and no invoice carrying a trade licence number
  • A technician with no company uniform, no identification, and no supervisor to call
  • A price far below every other quotation, which usually means a single spray and no follow-up
  • Pressure to decide immediately, or a discount that expires while the technician is standing there

Our own entry, so you can check it

MUMTAZ appears on the Sharjah register as AL MUMTAZ BLDG CLEAN & PEST CONTROL, area Industrial Area 13/Sharjah, in Category A (highest classification), cleared for both general pest control and termite work. That is the name to search for: it is the legal name on the trade licence rather than the trading name used across this site. The area shown against the entry, Industrial Area 13/Sharjah, is the premises recorded on the licence; our office is at Al Manakh, Hay Al Qasimiah.

That entry belongs to the Sharjah company, trade licence 546486. Our Dubai branch trades under a separate licence, 996625, and appears on Dubai's own register rather than this one. We would rather you checked than took the sentence above on trust, which is why this is a link and not a badge.
