Sharjah Pest Control Register: A, B and C Explained

By MUMTAZ Editorial Team·

What the register is

Sharjah Municipality publishes a list of the pest control companies it has authorised to operate in the emirate. Every company on it holds a trade licence, has had its technicians, products and storage inspected, and is graded into one of three classes: A, B or C. The list is public. You can search it yourself on the Sharjah Municipality associated companies page by typing the company's licensed name.

MUMTAZ is on it as AL MUMTAZ BLDG CLEAN & PEST CONTROL, in category A. That is the licensed name, which is why you will not find "MUMTAZ Integrated Services Group" on the list; the trading name and the licensed name are different, and the register uses the licensed one.

What A, B and C mean

The classes are the municipality's grading of a company's capability, not a customer rating. The listing page draws them as a row of glyphs, which is easy to misread as a star score. It is a class badge.

  • Category A is the highest classification. It is the class a company reaches when its technicians, equipment, storage and procedures meet the municipality's full requirements.
  • Category B and Category C are the two lower classes.

When MUMTAZ last verified the register through the municipality's own data on 2026-09-09, it listed 93 authorised companies: 30 in category A, 31 in category B and 32 in category C. Those counts change as companies are added, re-graded or removed, which is why we keep them here, in a guide with a date on it, rather than on a service page where they would go stale without anyone noticing.

What the register records beyond the class

Each entry also records what the company is cleared to carry out. General pest control is held across the list. Termite work is recorded separately, and at the time of that check 18 of the 93 companies held it. MUMTAZ holds both.

Fumigation is not a category on the register at all. At the time of the check, no company on the list, MUMTAZ included, was recorded as holding a municipality fumigation clearance through the register, because the register does not license fumigation. A company offering container or vessel fumigation does so under its trade licence and its own safety systems, and should say so rather than imply a municipal licence that does not exist. Ours says so on the fumigation page.

How to verify any company in five minutes

  1. Ask the company for its licensed name, not its brand name. If it cannot tell you, that is your answer.
  2. Search that name on the Sharjah Municipality associated companies page.
  3. Read the class. A is the highest.
  4. Check what it is cleared for. If you need termite work, the entry has to show it.
  5. Ask for the trade licence number and check it matches. MUMTAZ's is 546486.

A company that is approved in Dubai or Abu Dhabi is not automatically on the Sharjah register; each emirate runs its own approval, and the trade names often differ between emirates. Ask for the approval in the emirate where your property is.

Why the class matters to you

For a home, it tells you the technician arriving has been trained and inspected, and that the products in the van are municipality-approved and stored properly. Sharjah has a long history of complaints about unlicensed spraying in apartment buildings, which is why the municipality publishes the list and acts against operators who are not on it.

For a business, the class is the first line of the paperwork. A food inspection, a HACCP audit or a landlord's compliance check asks who your pest contractor is and whether it is authorised. A category A entry, printed and filed with the service contract, answers that in one page. What the rest of the file should contain is set out on our pest control page, under the documentation pack.

What the register does not tell you

It does not tell you whether the company inspects before it treats, whether it comes back, or what it records. Those are the questions that decide whether a treatment holds, and they are the questions to ask next. Our guide to choosing a pest control company in Sharjah sets them out.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. It is the municipality's highest classification of a company's capability. The listing page draws it as glyphs, which is easy to misread as a score.

Why is MUMTAZ listed under a different name?+

The register uses the licensed name, AL MUMTAZ BLDG CLEAN & PEST CONTROL. MUMTAZ Integrated Services Group is the trading name.

Does a Dubai approval count in Sharjah?+

No. Each emirate runs its own approval, and trade names often differ between them. Ask for the approval in the emirate where your property is.
