Pest control in a JLT tower
JLT is around 80 towers in 26 clusters, lettered A to Z, set around a chain of artificial lakes between Sheikh Zayed Road and Emirates Hills. In a tall building the kitchens and bathrooms stack directly above one another, joined by the same drain stacks and service risers, and cockroaches use those risers to move from floor to floor.
In ServiceMarket's Dubai call data, reported by Gulf News in 2018, JLT was one of the three most cockroach-infested areas in the city and one of the three that produced the most pest control calls. That fits the tower layout: the problem is rarely one apartment, so the treatment has to cover the points where pests enter from the building.
